This week in Community 2....

We have had an exciting week both inside and outside the classroom!

In class we have been learning about our local area of Puhinui (Warkworth) by discussing what makes up our area. We used hexagons to piece together parts that related to each other, such as the Mahurangi river - fish - ducks & eels. 

 

We have also been moving our bodies by using body percussion to make a rhythm. 

Here is some art using dye and salt to make an effect of the ocean. First we dyed our background and then sprinkled salt on before it dried. 

Outside the classroom we were lucky enough to learn snorkelling at the local pool at the Oaks. This was definitely the highlight of the week for the students! It was also great to see confidence build in many of the students. 

We also ventured to Mahurangi river where we discussed the history and did some drawings about our place. 

What an awesome week all of us in Community 2 have had!
